Quad County Landfill – Phase 10A Expansion
Xcavators, Inc. is serving as the Prime Contractor for the Phase 10A expansion at the Quad County MSW Landfill in Byhalia, Mississippi. Construction began in April 2026 and is scheduled for completion in October 2026.The project involves construction of a new 11.84-acre municipal solid waste disposal cell, requiring extensive earthwork and precise grading along with construction of the engineered liner and environmental-control systems.
Xcavators' scope includes mass excavation, structural fill, clay liner construction, perimeter road construction, drainage improvements, leachate collection infrastructure, a tipping pad, sediment basin work, and erosion and stormwater controls.
The project also requires careful moisture conditioning and compaction of soils to meet the engineered requirements of the landfill.
The Phase 10A work includes approximately 84,700 cubic yards of excavation, 19,500 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, 38,200 cubic yards of clay liner, 25,600 cubic yards of leachate collection sand, and 17,325 cubic yards of structural fill for the perimeter road.
Landfill construction requires more than moving dirt. It demands coordination between excavation, hauling, moisture conditioning, compaction, precision grading, drainage and environmental systems.
Xcavators is bringing its experienced crews and heavy equipment fleet together to perform these operations while maintaining the grades and specifications required for the finished cell.
